The province of Jujuy presented proposals to optimize the operation of Jama and strengthen regional integration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Government of Jujuy, through the Executive Secretary of the Provincial Agency of the Bioceanic Corridor of Capricorn, Alejandro Marenco, participated in Brasilia in a meeting of National Coordinators and Subnational States linked to the Bioceanic Road Corridor Capricorn, <\/strong>convened by the Government of Brazil at the Itamaraty Palace, headquarters of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

The meeting brought together representatives from Argentina, Brazil and Chile with the aim of advancing joint actions linked to the operation and strengthening of the Jama and Sico border crossings, considered strategic for regional integration and the logistical and commercial development of northern Argentina.<\/p>\n

Representing the Argentine Republic was Minister Santiago Villalba, representing the Argentine Foreign Ministry, accompanied by authorities from national agencies with border jurisdiction, including Customs, Migrations and the Secretariat of National Security.<\/p>\n

Jujuy, present at the meeting in Brasilia for the Bioceanic Corridor<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the meeting, the Government of Jujuy put forward a series of proposals aimed at improving the operation of the Jama Integrated Border Complex and consolidating the operation of the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor as a key axis for international trade and regional connectivity.<\/p>\n

Among the main issues addressed, Marenco promoted the incorporation of a scanner for the control of cargo transport in Jama<\/strong>, an initiative that was incorporated into the agenda by national border security authorities.<\/p>\n

It was also proposed to advance in the implementation of a Simplified Migration System at the border crossing, with the aim of eliminating paper forms and streamlining controls, taking as a reference mechanisms already applied at other international crossings in the region.<\/p>\n

Another of the proposals made by Jujuy was linked to the need to regularize the ownership situation of the lands where the Jama Border Complex is located, a condition considered fundamental to enable future expansion, modernization and infrastructure improvements.<\/p>\n

In operational matters, the provincial government also promoted the creation of a permanent system of communication and coordination between the intervening agencies and the subnational states, with the purpose of strengthening joint decision-making in the face of climatic and operational contingencies.<\/p>\n

In this framework, it was proposed to implement monitoring mechanisms on the Chilean side, establish consensual emergency protocols and strengthen binational coordination to optimize the operation of the international crossing.<\/p>\n

Finally, Jujuy raised the need to move towards the unification of criteria linked to the weight and dimensions of cargo transport that circulates through the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor, seeking to generate common parameters that favor a safer, more efficient and predictable circulation for international transport.<\/p>\n

Jujuy’s participation in this space reaffirms the Government’s commitment to strengthening regional integration<\/strong><\/a>, the development of strategic infrastructure and the consolidation of the Bioceanic Corridor as a platform for economic and logistical growth for the north<\/p>\n
