The technical visit marks a historic moment with the physical connection of the Bioceanic Route bridge

Porto Murtinho experienced this Thursday (23) one of the most important moments in its history with the realization of the physical connection of the International Bridge of the Bioceanic Route, a structure that connects the Brazilian municipality with the city of Carmelo Peralta, in Paraguay.
Although the official ceremony was canceled due to weather conditions, a technical visit brought together Brazilian and Paraguayan authorities, diplomatic representatives, businessmen and teams responsible for the construction to closely observe this historic landmark, known as the “kiss of the bridge”, which symbolizes the definitive meeting between the structures built by the two countries.
On behalf of the municipality of Porto Murtinho, the following participated in the technical visit: Mayor Nelson Cintra; the deputy mayor, Dr. Andreara Castro; the first lady and municipal secretary of Social Welfare, Maria Lúcia Ribeiro; the president of the Municipal Council, Sirley Pacheco; the Attorney General of the municipality, Dr. Darlene Loubet; and the administrative director of the Municipal Council, Regina Hein.
Also present were the ambassador of Paraguay in Brazil, Juan Ángel Delgadillo; the Consul General of Paraguay, Marlene Ocampos; as well as representatives of the Brazilian and Paraguayan governments, diplomatic authorities, businessmen and leaders linked to logistics development and South American integration.
With approximately 90% of the work completed, the Bioceanic Route bridge enters its final phase of construction. The project is expected to be completed in the coming months, including finishing work, paving, signage, lighting and security devices. Meanwhile, work continues on the access roads on both sides of the border.
With 1,294 meters in length, the bridge represents the main project of the Bioceanic Route, an international corridor that will connect the center-west of Brazil with the ports of the Pacific Ocean, passing through Paraguay, Argentina and Chile. It is expected to boost economic development, expand international trade, strengthen tourism, and consolidate Porto Murtinho as one of the main gateways to the Bioceanic Corridor in South America.
The physical connection of the bridge symbolizes much more than the union between two banks. It represents the strengthening of integration between peoples, the rapprochement between countries and the beginning of a new stage of development for Porto Murtinho, which now occupies a strategic position in the international logistics landscape.
