Event: VIII Meeting of the Working Group of the Bioceanic Road Corridor

Activity Objective
The meeting aimed to evaluate and coordinate progress in the implementation of the Bioceanic Road Corridor, facilitating integration among Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and Chile. Key topics such as infrastructure, transportation, logistics, and border procedures were discussed.
Activity Description
The event was inaugurated by the Governor of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Reinaldo Azambuja da Silva, and featured the participation of prominent political representatives and infrastructure experts from the involved countries. Among them were Brazilian federal deputies Vander Loubet and Luiz Ovando, and the President of the Planning and Logistics Company S.A., Arthur Lima, who delivered speeches.
The national coordinators of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Paraguay reported on progress in their respective countries related to the corridor. The working groups addressed topics such as infrastructure, production and trade, border procedures, university networks, and tourism.
Presentations and Advances Chilean Delegation: Presented a Pilot Plan at the Paso de Jama to collect data on border crossings, analyzing times and required documents. Paraguayan Delegation: Reported on the construction of routes between Carmelo Peralta and Loma Plata, and the border complex in Pozo Hondo. They also announced the start of bidding procedures for the Centinela-Pozo Hondo section. ITAIPU Binational: Presented the project for the construction of a bridge over the Paraguay River between Carmelo Peralta and Puerto Mourtinho.
Working Groups Tourism Group: Agreed on the need to develop a digital tourism map and create a tourism brand. University Network Group: Paraguay and Brazil agreed on an urban plan for Carmelo Peralta and Puerto Murtinho, coordinated by universities from both countries. Production and Trade Group: Agreed to hold a business meeting on productive chain and reciprocal investments.
Closing and Next Steps
The closing ceremony was attended by the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ernesto Araujo, and Senator Nelson Trad Filho. The delegations expressed gratitude for the hospitality of the Government of Brazil, and the Chilean delegation offered to host the IX Meeting, at a city and date to be determined.
