Event: V Integration Forum of the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor (CBC)

Objective

The main objective of the forum was to strengthen the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor from the participating Subnational Territories, promoting regional integration, sustainable development, and connectivity between the states. This is considered a key opportunity to improve the quality of life of the region’s inhabitants.

Description

The event, presided over by Harold Bergen, Governor of Boquerón, brought together political leaders, businesspeople, representatives of international organizations, and infrastructure experts from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Paraguay. During the forum, the following points were addressed:

• Infrastructure Advances: Discussed recent developments in corridor infrastructure and presented innovative projects.
• Customs Procedures: Analyzed improvements in customs procedures and facilities for cross-border transit.
• Economic and Logistics Competitiveness: Participants proposed concrete solutions to increase the region’s competitiveness.

Incorporation of New Members

• Incorporation of Presidente Hayes: The forum unanimously approved the inclusion of the Presidente Hayes department, Paraguay, increasing the Subnational Territories in the corridor to eight.

Regional integration was highlighted as a fundamental pillar for the economic and social development of the involved countries. Leaders present emphasized the crucial role of the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor in promoting international trade.

Commitment and Next Steps

The forum concluded with a renewed commitment from participating countries to continue collaborating on the implementation of agreed measures and seeking funding for future projects. The next forum will be held from February 17-21, 2025, in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Brazil.
