Jujuy consolidates its link with Asia through the Bioceanic Capricorn Corridor

Thursday October 8th, 2026

The Government of Jujuy, through the Provincial Agency of the Bioceanic Corridor of Capricorn, participated in a working meeting with representatives of the Embassy of Japan in the Argentine Republic, within the framework of the interest in knowing the state of progress of the Corridor and its development prospects.

The original call especially contemplated aspects related to coordination between provinces and countries, transit projections, logistics policies, infrastructure and investment attraction.

The Agency’s representative was in charge of its head, Executive Secretary Alejandro Marenco, who spoke about the evolution of the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor, the articulation between the territories that make it up, its growth prospects and the challenges posed by its consolidation as a link axis between the center of South America and the ports of the Pacific.

Representing the Japanese delegation were Takuya Yamaji, Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in the Argentine Republic, and Kaiji Kosaka, researcher at the Policy Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, who learned about the development of the Corridor, its prospects, potential transit flows and the infrastructure and logistics policies associated with its consolidation.

Kosaka’s participation and interest in learning about the project and its perspectives were expressly contemplated in the Embassy’s communication.

The meeting was joined by representatives of BAUNA COMEX, who especially addressed the strategic relevance of the Perico Free Trade Zone, promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development and Production of Jujuy, as a tool to strengthen competitiveness, facilitate foreign trade operations and enhance provincial logistics and productive capacities.

In this scenario, Jujuy’s strategic location, its international connection through the Jama Pass, its participation in the Bioceanic Corridor and tools such as the Perico Free Trade Zone could contribute to progressively consolidating the province as a logistics, productive and service node for the link between South America and the Pacific markets.

Empower and promote Jujuy

These spaces for international exchange also make it possible to make visible the potential of Jujuy and generate conditions to promote investments, develop new logistics services, add value to provincial production and expand commercial links with Japan and, potentially, with other Asia-Pacific markets.

In this way, the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor could transcend its strictly road dimension to consolidate itself as a platform for territorial integration, productive development and international projection, with Jujuy occupying a strategic position in the connection of South America with the Pacific.
