Master plan

What is

The Regional Master Plan for Integration and Development of the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor (PM-CBC) is an initiative aimed at improving infrastructure, logistics, and facilitating cross-border trade among Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil.

The main objective is to strengthen the planning, management, and regional coordination capacity of the national governments and subnational states that are part of the CBC. The Plan is managed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) through its financial instrument, the Regional Public Good (RPG).

The RPG initiative seeks to finance concrete products of regional coordination by providing non-reimbursable resources (grants) for projects that have been selected as a result of a public call for proposals.

Dimensions of the Study

Physical and Digital Infrastructure:

Plan of works and actions to build and optimize sustainable physical and digital infrastructure with efficient logistics performance to support the corridor's value chains.

Trade and Cross-Border Processes:

Plan of actions and solutions to regulatory, normative, process, and infrastructure challenges to facilitate cross-border transit and regional and international trade.

Local and Regional Productive Development:

Plan of actions to promote local productive development with a focus on the inclusion of small businesses and local communities.

The RPG, at the request of the Forum, has two other mandates intended to support the Plan:

  • Contribute to developing institutionalization and governance to manage, implement, and monitor the PM – CBC.
  • Develop the communication strategy for the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor and, based on that, generate content for a website and other dissemination pieces.
